The title of my paper is On Translation of Loanords . I choose this as my ic due to the folloing reasons. We all kno that loanords also refer to the borroing ords, and it is a product of language contact. Since the 1980s, ith the increasingly frequent contact and munications beteen China and the rest of the orld, a lot of ne things and ideas are introduced into China hich is bound to cause loanords from English into Chinese ith unprecedented scope and speed. Loanords involves in every field of social life in the ne period, appearing ne borroing climax in the history. Which make the study on translation of loanords be very necessary.

Next, it is an outline of my paper. In the main part of this paper, I divide it into five parts. Part one presents an introduction for some scholars’ researches on translation of loanords from different angles. Part to provides an overvie of loanords including the definition of loan ords, classification of loanords, booming periods of loanords from English to Chinese and the significance of loanords translation. Part three present existing problems on translation of

loanords: fake transliterated ords may cause semantic fuzzy; many versions of translation for one single ord often Lead to confusion in language use; some peculiar forms of loanords cause obscure semantic expression; unconventionally formed loanords ill corrupt Chinese normalization. Part four on the basis of previous analysis e explore the loanord translation skills respectively from

In order to make the target version more idiomatic and standard, the transformation of parts of speech is alays used by translators. So the transformation of parts of speech is playing a more important role in English to Chinese based on different characteristics of English and Chinese. For the above facts, I select the subject of“On Transformation of parts of speech”as the title of my paper.

I hope by studying this ic e can kno the importance of the transformation of parts of speech in English to Chinese translation. Through transformation, e can get the better version and improve the translation skills.

This paper consists of six parts. Part one presents an introduction to the author William Faulkner and A Rose for Emily by pointing out the purpose and significance of this study. Part to is literature revie hich introduces the relevant research about this novel at home and abroad and then points out the theoretical basis and methods. Part three gives a timeline of the gothic tradition in literature and explains the main characteristics of gothic orks. Part four explains the three aspects of the gothic style in the novel，that is, the death theme, grotesque characters and mystic atmosphere. Part five then explains in detail the causes of the gothic style in this novel: patriarchal oppression, the myth of southern ladyhood and Emily’s attitude toards love. Finally, in the conclusion, the author summarizes the previous parts and emphasizes the significance of the argument of the thesis again.
