As a student from the University of Marketing and Planning who is about to graduate, I have completed an internship at a renowned restaurant for three months. During this period, my professional abilities have been greatly improved. Now, I would like to reflect on my three months of work and provide a self-evaluation.
Firstly, I have enhanced my communication skills. As a front desk receptionist, I am the hotel's front-line staff and have face-to-face interactions with guests. Often, the receptionist's words can affect the guests' overall impression of the hotel and even their mood for the entire day. Understanding how to make your language heard comfortably and pleasantly by guests is an essential skill for a front desk receptionist to learn. During my internship, I not only improved my communication skills but also learned how to adjust my mindset and present the best attitude towards guests, colleagues, and even superiors.
Secondly, I have improved my emergency response capabilities. Working at the front desk means being prepared for any situation. As a receptionist, I encounter different guests daily and face various events. Some guests may become ill or behave rudely, which puts me in situations where I need to soothe their emotions while also safeguarding the hotel's interests and security. This has been another valuable lesson for me.
Thirdly, my independent working ability has improved. Through this internship, I have become aware of the importance of developing one's own ability to work independently. I respect people who rely on legitimate means, are honest and trustworthy in their duties; and those who achieve success through their abilities, diligence and loyalty."
